01Plan before the watch

A storm watch is the wrong time to start planning.

When a system enters the Caribbean, generators sell out, installers are booked solid, and shutters that were never tested are suddenly the thing standing between your property and a five-figure repair.

Readiness is built in the quiet months and verified before the season — so when a watch is issued, the work is already done and the plan just executes. That's the difference between a quick reopen and a season lost to repairs.

It's rarely the wind that costs owners the most — it's the days without power afterward, on a property no one can reach. Preparation is the whole game.Readiness, not reaction

The window closes fast
Once a storm is named, hardware vanishes and every installer in the region is booked. The off-season is the only time to do the work well.
Power loss is the damage
It's rarely the wind — it's days without power. No backup means spoiled everything, a dead security system, and a property you can't monitor.
You may be away
Absentee owners can't board up from abroad. A standing plan and a local team that executes it is the only readiness that works when you're not here.
02What we install & do

Four layers of storm readiness.

Battery backup & generator install

Sized to your property — from UPS on critical electronics to a standby generator for the whole unit. Installed and tested in the off-season so power loss doesn't mean a dark, unmonitored property for days.

Storm shutter inspection & deployment

We inspect existing shutters, fix what's seized or missing, and confirm everything actually closes before the season — then deploy them when a storm approaches.

Pre-storm property securing

When a watch is issued we execute the plan: secure outdoor furniture and loose items, protect openings, shut off and protect systems, and document the property's pre-storm state.

Post-storm assessment & cleanup

As soon as it's safe, we assess, photograph, and report — then handle cleanup and coordinate repairs so the property gets back to bookable fast.

03How it works

A 12-month rhythm, not a panic response.

Audit

Walk-through + readiness audit

We assess exposure, existing protection, power, and what's missing — and write the plan.

Dec–May

Off-season install

Generators, batteries, and shutter fixes done in the quiet months, not the scramble.

Jun–Nov

Storm-season standby

When a watch is issued, the securing plan executes — and we assess afterward.

Annual

Annual review

Each year we re-test, service equipment, and update the plan before the next season.

04Who this is for

When this work earns its keep.

Beachfront & waterfront properties

The most exposed properties have the most to lose. Readiness here isn't optional — it's the difference between a quick reopen and a season lost to repairs.

Absentee & international owners

You can't board up from abroad. A standing plan and a local team that executes it is how you protect a property you can't reach in time.

Owners with heavy guest calendars

A storm mid-season means cancellations and displaced guests. Fast, organized prep and recovery limits lost nights and protects your reviews.

05Common questions

Hurricane prep, answered.

When should this work happen?
The install work — generators, batteries, shutter repairs — happens in the off-season, roughly December through May, while hardware and installers are available. The audit can happen any time; the sooner the plan exists, the better. Pre-storm securing and post-storm assessment run on demand during the June–November season.
Do I need a whole-home generator?
Not necessarily. We size backup power to your property and priorities — sometimes that's UPS on critical electronics and a few essential circuits, sometimes a standby generator for the whole unit. The audit determines the right level.
What happens when a storm is actually coming?
The securing plan we built executes: we secure outdoor items, protect openings, deploy shutters, safeguard systems, and document the pre-storm state. After it passes, we assess and photograph as soon as it's safe, then handle cleanup and coordinate repairs.
Do I have to be a management client?
No. Hurricane Prep & Backup Power is available as a standalone service in our coverage area, though it integrates naturally with full property management for owners who want one team handling everything.
